When the fastest-growing city in California required a new high school to accommodate its expanding student population, Dublin Unified School District passed bonds to fund the first new high school in the Alameda County in 50 years. Collaborating with PBK Architects on the campus design and with our One Workplace Learning Environments team to assess interiors needs, develop and implement solutions, the project intends to foster connections to community, culture, nature, sustainability and a strong sense of belonging.
Starting with a creative engagement workshop to better understand the Emerald High School "why", we gathered educators, students and district staff together to help define the problem to be solved and co-create a solution that looks and feels right for the new school. Our primary question was: how might we use this conversation to better understand the hopes and aspirations of this new campus to help direct the overall design concept?

I can honestly say that working with One Workplace has been the best experience I've had in any bond facility construction. Our partnership was the best that we could have for furnishing the school, starting from the RFP through creative engagements engaging with community members to see how they feel, what they want. Designer Gabriella almost felt like she was member of our facilities team and it felt like One Workplace was not a vendor, but actually part of our team.
