UCSF Center for Vision Neuroscience

The Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision houses ophthalmology clinics, teaching, research, conference, and admin space for UCSF teams. Smith Group designed 3 wings to support 1300 staff members: 12-story tower, 5-story and 3-story north and south wings with rooftop garden.

Clarity and transparency throughout the new Center for Vision Neuroscience create open views within the building and out to the spectacular Mission Bay environment. Flexibility and mobility in design, furnishings and architectural elements allow the facility work for all its users.
Finishes were selected to evoke nature, warmth, connection and ample space is provided for clinical, learning, and administrative environments. Workstations, private offices, consult rooms, collaborative and respite environments support all UCSF staff and visitors.
Many people contributed towards the success of the UCSF and Gladys Valley Center for Vision, and we were honored to partner with UCSF, Smith Group, Webcor Builders and the entire project team to bring this vision to reality.
