UC Berkeley moved three schools into one new building with project partners WRNS, Turner Construction, A Squared Project Solutions and OWP. The logic behind floors plans, colors, materials and furnishings gives each program its own unique space.
Working with UC Berkeley is a continuous learning adventure. Our team's responsibility for this project was to curate, procure and install furnishings for a wide spectrum of functional needs. Logistics are always important but even more so for projects of this complexity, along with clear and constant communications with all the project partners.
Each school has specific functional needs. Psychology testing rooms, a clinic and department office spaces on 3, Education classrooms and project rooms on 4, and Public Health requirements for quiet spaces on 5 define the spaces. Conference, huddle and focus rooms, staff and student workstations, project rooms and casual collaboration spaces appear throughout the 5 floors. And as a subcontractor to Turner, OWP Construction built all the glass offices and classrooms.
